Semi-Longitudinal Study on the Physique and Mzximum Groth Age of Youth in Tae-Ku city


Abstract
This study obtained following results from measuring physique, nutritional status and maximum growth age by using Longitudinal research method of Physical growth and development of 330 Persons (Male; 165, Female; 165) Who were born from 1970 March 1st. to 1971 Feb. 28th, and living in Jen Ju.
1. Physical growth and development
Body weight showed two step straight line development and body height showed one step straight line development.
Female group development rate is higher than male development rate in the second development.
Male female cross phenomenone was appeared on 9.5-12.5 years old age in body weight
In this age group, female development was more greater than male development, and after
this age group, male development-was more greater than female development. 2. Physical and nutritional indices
Relative body weight was increased steadily and the crossing point of boys and girls appeared at age 10.5 at which girls surpassed boys and at age 18.5, boys surpassed girls. Rohrer index was 1.2 in both sexes constantly
The Kaup index was lower lean 2.0 in boys from 6 to 15 and in girls from 6 to 15. It becames higher than 2.0 after 16 in boys and in girls after 17.
3. Maximum growth age of physical development.
Maximum growth age of body height was 12.6 oge old in male and 9.8 in female. Female
maximum growth age was 2.8 year earlier than male maximum growth age
Maximum growth age of body weight was 12.7 in male and 11.6 in female. Female maximum
growth age was 1.0 year earlier than male maximum growth age.
